Get Gay Married On The Radio

June 2, 2009

Photobucket

Vocalo.org is a non-profit, public radio station serving the Southside of Chicago and Northwest Indiana (89.5FM WBEW Chesterton). We are working on a marriage-centered broadcast initiative for the month of June and we want to marry a couple, live on the air. Always wanting to slant things OUR way, I am focusing all my efforts around this to find a same-sex couple to take the plunge! I think it will be a compelling, tangible way to spark dialogue about what it means/doesn’t mean to have a state-sanctioned union. For the listeners, we would have a beautiful tale of romance that legally doesn’t mean anything, and we would use it as a platform to talk about why it is so important that we all should have the same freedoms. You can help the fight for equal rights, get showered with attention AND not have to deal with actual legal consequences of saying “I Do.” IT WILL BE FUN! Vocalo.org is providing the band, the cake, an officiator…all the fixins! All you have to do is tell us your story. Details for the contest are at vocalo.org/marryme , and you can shoot me an email at thinkpinkradio(((@)))gmail.com to get the inside scoop.  You have to be in Chicago the week leading up to June 25th. SERIOUSLY LET’S DO IT.

Seriously, I went to vote and there was a line. A long one. And that’s the report from everyone I know who has gone to vote. Don’t wait until election day, as you might have to wait a discouraging amount of time. DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. Also, there are many judges and representatives that are up for election/retention. For a lefty, pro-gay take on who to vote for, go to TPR fan jendoespolitics for a printable list of endorsements that you can take with you! Find out where to vote early in Chicago at chicagoelections.com.
